According to multiple reports, the New York Mets have re-signed right-handed pitcher Jeurys Familia. The deal, which was first reported by Yahoo Sports is for three years and $30 million according to The Athletic.
Familia, 29, served a 15-game domestic violence suspension at the beginning of the 2017 season. In 343 career games out of the bullpen he has a 2.73 ERA with 369 strikeouts in 352 2/3 innings of work and earning 124 career saves in 146 opportunities.
The Mets traded Familia to the Oakland Athletics in July for right-handed pitcher Bobby Wahl, third baseman Will Toffey and future considerations. He pitched one inning in the American League Wild Card game for the Athletics, striking out a batter.
Familia will be joining a Mest bullpen that now features star closer, Edwin Diaz.
