On Friday, the New York Mets announced that they did not tender a contract to infielder Wilmer Flores for the 2019 season.
Flores, 27, has spent six seasons in the major leagues with the Mets after being signed as an international free agent in 2007. Throughout his MLB career, he hit .262/.303/.424 in 581 games. His best season came in 2017 when he hit .271/.307/.488 in 110 games for the Mets.
Throughout his major league career, he has played all over the infield with 162 games at shortstop, 143 games at third base, 139 games at first base, and 101 games at second base.
MLB Trade Rumors estimated that Flores would make $4.7 million in arbitration this season.
