Mets Injury Update – 4/23/2019

So far in 2019 organizationally there are some injuries affecting all levels of the New York Mets. Here is the latest on who is injured, and what their status is:

 

New York Mets (MLB):

2B Robinson Canó – Canó was hit by a pitch in 4/21’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals after he took a 93.9 mph fastball from Andrew Miller to the hand. Canó was taken out of the game, x-rays conducted came back negative. Canó played decoy in 4/22’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies, a ruse from manager Mickey Callaway to get a red-hot Jake Arrieta out of the game. Canó is likely probably for 4/23.

RHP Jacob DeGrom – deGrom is currently on the 10 Day Injured List with what’s been described as a “barking” elbow. deGrom was recently suffering from strep throat prior to his placement on the injured list. deGrom’s MRI came back clean, he is eligible to come off the IL and expected to make a start on 4/26.

LHP Justin Wilson – Wilson went on the 10-Day Injured List with a sore elbow. This is likely to be a short stint while Wilson waits on an MRI, this move to the IL was a corresponding move by the Mets when they activated 3B Todd Frazier back on 4/22.

INF Jed Lowrie – With a Left Knee Capsule Sprain, Lowrie is currently on the 10-Day Injured List. While not yet ready for a rehab assignment he has been participating in live batting practice which is a step forward.

OF Yoenis Cespedes – Cespedes had a heel injury which required surgery, while currently on the 10 Day Injured List, the outfielder expects to be able to return at some point in 2019.

RHP Drew Smith – Smith underwent Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the 2019 season. He is currently on the 10 Day Injured List.

 

Syracuse Mets (Triple-A):

RHP P.J. Conlon – Currently on the 7 Day Injured List. No updates as of yet.

RHP Walker Lockett – Currently on the 7 Day Injured List with Right Elbow Soreness per Matt Ehalt.

LHP David Roseboom – 7 Day Injured List

C Colton Plaia – 7 Day Injured List

C Dan Rizzie – 7 Day Injured List

INF Gavin Cecchini – Unspecified Quad Injury, Cecchini is currently placed on the 7 Day Injured List.

 

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A):

RHP Mickey Jannis – 7 Day Injured List

RHP Franklyn Kilome – Kilome underwent Tommy John surgery and will miss the 2019 season. Currently on the 7 Day Injured List.

RHP Austin McGeorge – 7 Day Injured List

C Dustin Houle – 7 Day Injured List

OF Barrett Barnes – 7 Day Injured List

 

St. Lucie Mets (Single-A Advanced):

RHP Trey Cobb – Underwent Tommy John surgery and is expected to miss the 2019 Season. Cobb is currently on the 7 Day Injured List.

RHP Jordan Humphreys –  Humphreys underwent Tommy John surgery last year and is expected back at some point in June. He is currently on the 7 Day Injured List.

RHP Chase Ingram – 7 Day Injured List

RHP Max Kuhns – 7 Day Injured List

RHP Thomas Mcllraith – 7 Day Injured List

LHP Joshua Walker – 7 Day Injured List

OF Desmond Lindsay – 7 Day Injured List

 

Columbia Fireflies (Single-A)

P Colin Holderman – Underwent Tommy John surgery in 2018. Holderman could return to action in 2019 and is currently on the 7 Day Injured List.

P Joel Huertas – Underwent Tommy John Surgery in 2018, could return in 2019 and is currently on the 7 Day Injured List.

C Carlos Sanchez – 7 Day Injured List

INF Chase Chambers – 7 Day Injured List

OF Ranfy Adon – 7 Day Injured List
