New York Mets (MLB):
 
The New York Mets (49-55) shutout the Pittsburgh Pirates (46-58) 3-0 behind Steven Matz’ superb start and pair of key home runs
  • LHP Steven Matz continued his string of great starts out of the all-star break with a Maddoux, carving up the Pirates lineup.  Matz threw all 9 innings only needing 99 pitches to do so and struck out 7 Pirates while only allowing 5 hits and walking none.
  • OF Michael Conforto broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run into the Coca-Cola corner.
  • INF/OF J.D. Davis later hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh.

Syracuse Mets (Triple-A):

The Syracuse Mets (53-52) beat the Toledo Mud Hens (46-59) 8-6.

  • RHP Walker Lockett returned to AAA and threw 5 innings allowing 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned, walked 3, and struck out 7.
  • INF Luis Guillorme homered, doubled, and drove in three runs bringing his average up to .315 on the season.

 

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (Double-A):

The Rumble Ponies (55-48) beat the Bowie Baysox (56-48) 2-1.

  • RHP Tommy Wilson continued his great run in AA with 7 innings, 4 hits, 1 earned run, no walks, and 9 strikeouts.
  • C Patrick Mazeika went 1-4 with an RBI double, his 20th on the year.

St. Lucie Mets (Class-A Advanced):

The St. Lucie Mets (57-48) lost to the Bradenton Marauders (57-47) 3-2.

  • LHP Thomas Szapucki continued to build up strength with 4 innings, 2 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, and struck out 6.
  • OF Wagner Lagrange went 2-4 with two doubles and a run scored.

Columbia Fireflies (Class A):

The Columbia Fireflies (39-63) lost 8-4 against the Hagerstown Suns (46-59).

  • RHP Jaison Vilera threw 4.2 innings allowing 3 hits, 4 runs, 2 walks, and struck out 4.
  • SS Ronny Mauricio stayed hot with a 2- RBI double against Nationals first-rounder Jackson Rutledge.  His average on the year is now .281

Brooklyn Cyclones (Class Short-Season A)

The Brooklyn Cyclones (24-16) won 5-1 against the Vermont Lake Monsters (16-26).

Kingsport Mets (Rookie)

The Kingsport Mets (17-20) beat the Pulaski Yankees (23-14) 3-2.

  • 17-year-old RHP Junior Santos continued his success tossed 3 innings, allowing 5 hits, no runs, walked 2, and struck out 2.
  • CF Kennie Taylor went 2-4 with 2 runs and had an OF assist.

GCL Mets (Rookie GCL)

The GCL Mets (16-11) beat the GCL Marlins (17-11) 3-2.

  • RHP Joshua Cornielly threw 3 innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.
  • C Mitch Ghelfi on rehab went 0-3 with a run and an RBI.

 

DSL Mets 1 (Dominican Summer League)

The DSL Mets 1 (15-28) lost to the DSL Twins (22-21) 8-5.

  • LHP Javier Atencio pitched 2.2 innings allowing 3 hits, 2 runs, walked 3, and struck out 2.
  • RF Freddy Valdez went 1-2 with 2 runs scored.

 

DSL Mets 2 (Dominican Summer League)

The DSL Mets 2 (22-26) lost to the DSL Phillies White (28-20) 6-3.

  • RHP Jose Valdez tossed 2.2 innings allowing 4 hits, 1 run which was unearned, walked 3, and struck out 4.
  • 3B Samuel Marte went 2-4 with a double and an RBI-single.

All affiliates are in action tomorrow.
